The EX40 targets safety-conscious buyers in the same segment as the Audi Q4 e-tron. Volvo confirmed in September 2026 that the EX40 will be dropped from the US lineup after the 2027 model year; it continues in Europe but will not be sold in the US or Canada, where the EX60 becomes Volvo's most affordable EV.
