Volkswagen revives the Microbus as the ID. Buzz, starting at $59,995 with seven seats, 234 miles of range, and 282 hp. Its retro design and van-like versatility make it unlike anything else in the EV market. With 2,600-lb towing and a flat floor, it appeals to families and nostalgia-driven buyers alike. Note: VW is skipping the 2026 and 2027 model years for the US (citing tariffs, high price, and weak demand) and is selling through leftover 2025 stock. VW informed US dealers on September 24, 2026 that the Buzz will return in the first half of 2027 as a 2028 model, bundling previously announced updates (a camping-oriented Tourer trim with fold-out mattress and window blinds, one-pedal driving, and NACS via a factory-included adapter for Tesla Supercharger access) with updated software, vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, physical steering-wheel buttons, and a digital key. Pricing and range for the 2028 van are unannounced.
