For 2027 Rivian replaced its motor-count trim names (Dual, Tri, Quad) with Premium, Performance, and Quad tiers, configurable since August 13, 2026, and added second-row captain's chairs as an option for the first time. The base Premium makes 533 hp (0-60 in 4.5 seconds), with an optional $5,000 upgrade to 665 hp (3.4 seconds); Performance makes 850 hp and Quad makes 1,025 hp. Seating seven with 7,700-lb towing, it offers off-road capability the Tesla Model X and Cadillac Escalade IQ cannot match on trails.
